You or your team will only need to perform an "FDR" (Factory Reset) of your Schlage smart lock if all other troubleshooting steps have failed.

If you've never done this before, we recommend contacting Homebase Support (support@homebase.ai / using the live chat in your Manager App) so we can assist you, and answer any questions you may have.

Factory resetting a lock will restore your device to manufacturer settings.

Here is a slide deck that contains the same info in case you would like to save it to your computer or mobile device as well as providing an "at your own pace" usability.

Before you begin, download and log into the following apps using your login credentials:

NOTE: Either Homebase or a member of your team will initiate account invitations which you will receive via email from Homebase and Allegion.

To Factory Reset a lock you will need the following:

  • iPhone or Android device with Bluetooth capabilities

  • (1) Phillips head screwdriver

  • Access to the smart lock backplate (the inside of the unit or space)

Note: If your smart lock appears to be dead and you cannot gain access to the unit, follow the instructions at the beginning of this article.

Remove the lock from the Engage Site.

  1. Log into the Engage App. (See the link provided above)

  2. Navigate to the site where the lock is installed (this is likely the name of your community)

  3. Select "Devices"

  4. Write down the serial number of this lock. You will reference this later.

  5. Swipe left on the lock's name and delete the lock you are resetting.

Manually reset the lock.

  1. Unscrew the backplate of the lock. Please note if you see a serial number. Set aside.

  2. Remove one battery for about 15 seconds.

  3. Re-insert the battery and wait for the lock to flash and beep 3 times (Two fast beeps, and one long one.)

  4. Immediately after the beeps are finished, turn the deadbolt as if you were locking and unlocking the door twice.
NOTE: If at any time your experience does not match up with these steps, please return to step two and repeat the instructions. If problems persist, please reach out to Homebase Support.

Add the smart lock back to the Engage App.

  1. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on your smartphone.

  2. On the "Sites" tab in the Engage App, please navigate to the location where you previously removed this device.

  3. Select "Devices."

  4. Tap the orange "+" sign to add this lock.

  5. Select the serial number of the lock which you just reset.

  6. Tap "Control Lock"

  7. If this is the first time factory resetting a lock, you will need to tap "Default Settings" and follow the in-app prompts to add the lock to Engage.

Update & Test in Homebase

  1. Open your Homebase Manager app.

  2. Tap into the unit or space that you've added the lock back into.

  3. Next, tap "Key fobs and updates"

  4. Tap "Perform Lock Maintenance"

  5. Wait for this process to complete.

  6. After completing, tap back to the previous page.

  7. Tap the unlock button. Your lock should beep and blink green.

  8. Now you can manually turn the deadbolt to lock/unlock the unit.

  9. Success! βœ…

REMINDER: If you experience issues at any point, please close and reopen your Homebase Manager app to refresh the connection between Homebase and Allegion Engage. If any issues persist, please reach out to Homebase Support.

REMINDER: You must manually turn the deadbolt to lock or unlock. This lock is not motorized.
