If you're a resident or staff member in a community that uses key fobs on Bluetooth smart locks, Updating Locks (also called Updating Key Access) is one of the most important things you can regularly do to ensure your smart locks run smoothly and stay safe. πŸ”’

If key fobs are added or removed from a door (ex: during times of staff or resident turnover), Updating Locks allows you to digitally "re-key" a lock, removing outdated or revoked key fobs, as well as adding newly assigned key fobs. πŸ”‘

(This sounds a whole lot cheaper and faster than calling a locksmith, right?)

Step 1: This super quick process starts with standing within Bluetooth range (10-30 ft) of your lock, and opening your Homebase App.

Step 2: In your app, tap the unit number you'd like to update.

Step 3: On the next screen, tap "Update key access." Now, wait for the magic to happen! ⚑️ You'll see a progress bar in your app, and will receive a confirmation once the update is complete. βœ… (This process normally takes between 10-30 seconds. The more frequently your locks are updated, the quicker it goes!)

Step 4: Congrats! Your lock is now updated and more secure. πŸ‘

For best results, and to keep your smart community running like a well-oiled machine, we recommend that you update your lock(s) as frequently as every other month.
