It's important that Unit Locks are synced regularly to maintain current battery status reporting. It's also necessary to sync locks when any master fob assignments have changed. 

For this reason Homebase recommends that you send regular, or strategically scheduled, reminders to residents asking that they use the resident app to "Check for Lock Updates". 

Here's an example you can use complete with instructions and screenshots. 


Dear Resident, 

In order to keep locks in optimal working condition please use your Homebase Resident App to "Check for Lock Updates" on or before (specific date.) 

You can follow these steps: 

Stand near your lock and log into the Homebase Resident App. 

  1. Select the CONTROL tab. 
  2. Select your unit lock from the list of available locks. 
  3. Select LOCK SUPPORT
  4. Select CHECK FOR LOCK UPDATES

The app will look for, connect to and sync with your lock. This should take about 15 to 20 seconds.

If your lock batteries are low maintenance will schedule a time to install new batteries.
